Privacy

Short, because there is little to say. Everything below can be checked by opening your browser's network tab.

Nothing is stored about you

There is no account, no login and no profile. Nothing you do here is written down against you, because there is nothing to write it against.

Say no to Google Analytics and the site sets no cookies at all. The only thing kept in your browser is the no itself, in local storage, so you are not asked again.

Your answers stay in the address bar

The seven questions produce a result by putting your answers into the address of the result page. That address is the only place they exist. The page you see is worked out from it each time it loads.

Which means the link is yours to keep or to share, and it is also the reason those pages are marked not to be indexed and not to pass their address on when you click away from them.

Google Analytics — only if you say yes

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people find the site and which pages they read. It runs only after you have said yes in the banner. Say no, or say nothing, and not one file is fetched from Google — which you can check in the network tab, the same way as everything else here.

If you do say yes, Google sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address and your browser's description of itself. The data is handled by Google Ireland Limited and may be transferred to the United States. Advertising signals stay switched off.

Your quiz answers are never sent — with a yes or without one. The address of a result page IS the seven answers, so it is shortened to /en/r/(result) before it reaches Google. The funnel is counted; what you answered stays here.

Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and stands for twelve months. Change it whenever you like from “Cookies” at the bottom of any page.

What the server sees

A web server records requests — the address asked for, the time, the browser's own description of itself and the network address it came from. Ours does too, as part of running the service, and those records are kept briefly by the company that hosts it.

They are not read for anything else, not joined to anything, and there is nothing to join them to. This is the one thing on this page that is not a promise of absence, so it is said plainly rather than left out.

Where the pictures come from

Some illustrations are drawn for this site. The photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under licences that permit it, and each one names its photographer and licence beneath it.

Links away from here

Where this site links to another, that other site is its own and keeps its own record of what it does. This page speaks only for this one.
